The Supreme Question: "What shall I do then with Jesus which is called the Christ?" (Matt. 27:22).
1. (See Luke 14:16). God is saying, "Come to the great feast!" Universal call (See Luke 14:23). "Come" (See Revelation 22:17). Living Water (See John 4:14; Matthew 5:6). Wine represents joy. Milk represents nourishment. Revelation 3:20, "sup with me" indicates joyful living; Abundant Living. "Without price". How are we to obtain the water offered? (See Ephesians 2:8-9).
2. "Spend money?" (See Matthew 6:19-21). Eat (See John 6:35). "Soul delight in fatness" (See John 10:10) Abundant Life.
3a. "Incline your ear" - Realize sin and turn to God. See Revelation 3:20, "if any man hear my voice."
3b. "Hear" - Response. Obedience. Lordship. "Open the door" (See Revelation 3:20).
4. "Him" - Messiah. Here, Isaiah gives witness to God's ability and desire to save all from sin.
6. "Seek ye/Call ye" - Come to God confessing sin. (See Jeremiah 29:13). "Seek ye the Lord". Commit yourself to His Lordship. "While He may be found/is near". (See also Ephesians 6:2; Genesis 6:3). ** Note: Double check these references.
7. "Forsake his way, thoughts". (See 1 John 1:9; 2 Corinthians 5:17). "Return unto the Lord." His mercy (2 Peter 3:9). Abundant pardon.
8. Man's thoughts/God's thoughts. What are man's thoughts? (centered on self and evil designs; temporal). What are God's thoughts? (genuine love, mercy, pardon; eternal).
11. "My word". (See 2 Timothy 3:16). "Not return void". His word will be accomplished and will accomplish all He has planned.
1-2. Jesus identified Himself as the fufillment of this prophesy when He chose to read it in the synagogue (See Luke 4:16-19). How many of these services can we render? (See Matthew 25:37-40).
2. Acceptable year. Era of the new age. Also we proclaim the acceptable time of salvation (See 2 Corinthians 6:2).
We have studied several Messianic prophesies and have seen their fulfillment in the life and mission of Jesus. With the same certainty we can depend on the fulfillment of these prophesies concerning Heaven.
1. Rise and shine. Arise to a new day. What is our "light" in this world? (See 2 Corinthians 4:3-4). What will our light be in the New Jerusalem? (See Revelation 21:23). God's presence.
2. Spiritual darkness. The time will come in this world when our number comes up. We must do what we can, while we can, for those in spiritual darkness (See John 9:4).
17. New Heaven & earth (See Revelation 21:1). Former things not remembered (See Revelation 21:4).
18. What are some reasons for Joy in this city? Review verse. Let's see some others. (See Revelation 21:6). The end shall be our beginning. (Also See Revelation 22:1-7). Revelation 22:5). "They shall reign." (Also see Luke 22:29-30). I believe, when we are saved, we enter into what I will call "Eternal Discipleship Training." The time between our salvation and our entrance into Heaven, should be spent Training to Reign. This is accomplished as we learn to be more Christ-like. Note the duties sutdied earlier of the Servant and His people. What are some ways we can prepare for this new age? Let's address the duties, in Isaiah 61, as best as we can.
